Abrasive testing of our new DLC coating

Wanted to write up a couple posts outlining the testing of this DLC we are offering.

The first thing to note is ALL DLC COATINGS ARE NOT EQUAL, and this testing applies specifically to the coating that I use. The DLC I use has been tested and compared against over 2 dozen other DLC coatings and was found to be superior.

In testing this new DLC I went straight to the most abrasive material that would simulate hard use – carpet and wood. I cut approximately 60 ft of carpet and batoned through over 100″ of the most dense wood I could find (Cali Bamboo – no walk in the park!). These tests are EXTREMELY hard on any coating, including a straight blade w/ no coating at all.

Here is the same blade directly after the abrasion testing, notice the scratches on the bare steel of the blade’s edge, but the coating remained virtually unaffected!
